“Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes.”- Kybalion
We find representations of the feminine all around us. I find that the energy defined through the Daoist view of the yin and yang is one such beautiful representation. This fluid flow, between the masculine and feminine, also speaks to how the energies are not only themselves but each other. In the beginning, there is only one thing. However, in this passage, we will discuss specifically how feminine aspects can be expressed.
Notice how the feminine (yin) energy is expressed. As a flower grows, it is in a state of yin. (The blossom as a result of the growing is yang) The process of a bird learning to fly is yin (the flying itself, yang) as rays of sun are absorbed into your physical skin, yin (the beams are in the yang state at this point), the dance of the trees in the wind are yin (the wind itself yang) Yin is described as the receptive action but is also fluid.
The sheer beauty in the transfer of energy. One can become the other as the thing being described moves through the process while holding the potential to be both simultaneously. Beautiful, peaceful rest. Rest in the knowledge that this process is unending and supporting everything around us. The seed of creation relating to the physical. Simply put, Yin energy can be looked at as the cause and the yang the effect. The result is not any less important than the action. We often put the emphasis on the action of experiences or circumstance but in reality, both processes are needed to complete the cycle of the "happening". This fact allows the experience to develop effectively or, as it should. The action of the pitched baseball ending in a groundball has a different effect on the whole than one ending snugly in a catcher’s mitt. Both pitches are yin but hold different energy.
The yin speaks
Feminine energy, fueled by self-awareness will allow this aspect of BEING or the YIN to always have the motion of advancement or, a perfect blend with the yang it is a result of. Observing the yin in your experiences as the receptive aspect provides a beautiful example of how we can support the feminine inside of us here in the physical. As above, so below. Personally, I've moved into a space of practicing conscious decisions, conscious behavior, and conscious reflection. Tapping into the parts of myself that provides clarity and enlightened reflection has helped me to become a better communicator, and assists on the journey to self. Initially, shifting into conscious decision making starts by changing the perspective. Passive unattached responses, a hesitant or non-existing attempt at comprehension, or the lack of requesting clarity to gain deeper understanding are all examples of dismissing the yin. Yin as the becoming or the receptive aspect is a reservoir of understanding. Yin energy is a sponge. This energy grows as it's fed. In this human existence, cultivating femininity does not end with a sheer observation. The practice of absorption, truly understanding and hearing another, or making it your will to attempt to is a part of this flourish. Within my practice, striving for deeper understandings and comprehension in all things nourishes the commitment to this receptive nature.
Communication
Within the action of communication and response….insert there the awareness of what your response could actually mean. Overly passive responses to circumstances were always my issue. This was a red flag to me that I needed to reflect on connecting and believing what I was actually saying. Seeing the bigger picture helped me extremely in decoding not only my experiences but my truth. Connecting myself to the ME, as all. Decoding and observing in every moment. Seeing the happening and the result of the reaction as 1 thing. Leveling the full experience is how we express the yin can broaden the spectrum of possibility.
We are taught through either example or experience however, as we seek truth and evolve we wipe old programs and install new ones that we write ourselves. We begin to use what works for us within the knowledge of self. This fact should permeate not only your self-reflection but your outward behavior. There is often a false label in my opinion put onto "realness". I've observed that oftentimes it gives rise to the void of the yin in communication.
Engaging in useless disagreements or saying the first things we think are examples. Acting without plan or tact, no strategy… letting the sheer emotion drive are signs of an imbalance in this area as well. As accurate as it feels to be "real", with no disregard for the outcome, it could be damaging. When growth is the goal…we can no longer communicate like our mothers, older sisters, grandmothers or reality tv stars. Truly grasp the power in your actions, thoughts, and behavior when doing this work. The essence of the expression of inner femininity, grace, and ease, poise, respect, and wisdom should seep into EVERYTHING we do. I started analyzing my words before I said them. Simple. Doing this may sound like the smallest thing to do, but simply analyzing my words…my speech patterns, tone, phrasing and MY INTENTION…changed the responses I got. Doing this, more importantly, gave me the energy within myself of self-trust and completion. Think things through before you respond, simply put. Observing the situation concerning the YOU as the whole, and setting your intention as such is true balance.
